Welcome to Our Place – The Fresh Fish Place

Hi there! We’re Sandy and Craig. Our story began on the deck of a tuna boat in the 80s, and while we’ve grown from a single fisherman’s dream into one of the Eyre Peninsula’s largest seafood processors, our motto remains unchanged: Fresh is Best.

From working our own licenses to hand-selecting the daily catch, we’ve spent decades mastering the craft. Today, our business encompasses the quintessential ocean-to-plate experience. We bring the skill of our artisan factory floor directly to The Seafood Eatery, our local retail outlet, and to the tables of Australia’s finest restaurants.

Whether you’re here for a factory tour, a family dinner, or to source the best catch for your own kitchen, you’re part of our journey. And when the work is done? You’ll find us where the ocean meets the land—surfing the local breaks or painting the coast we call home. It’s a life we love, and we’re proud to share it with you.

Sourcing Local Seafood

WE’RE PASSIONATE ABOUT SOURCING ONLY THE finest

The Eyre Peninsula isn't called the Seafood Frontier for nothing… home to the largest commercial fishing fleet in the southern hemisphere, it’s a smorgasbord of world-class seafood.

Our most important task is therefore sourcing seafood from these local fishermen that are scattered around our vast coastline. Our Managing Director Craig McCathie has an affinity with these suppliers having been a commercial fisherman himself for 25 years. Over this time, he gained invaluable knowledge of the commercial fisheries in this region as well as forming strong relationships with his fisher colleagues.

Craig says, “Understanding the catching of fish and the supplier’s needs is vital to sourcing a reliable supply of fresh, high-quality seafood”.

Our seafood is sourced fresh, filleted and shipped Australia wide… daily. Ensuring the bite you take is among the freshest in the world.
